Stage 6

STAGE 6 (Years 11 and 12)

  • Students are required to study a minimum of 12 units in Year 11 and 10 units in Year 12 to successfully meet the requirements of the HSC
  • Students wishing to obtain an Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) in order to attend university must study a minimum of 10 ATAR units. At St Paul’s Catholic College Manly, students must also study a Religion course either Studies of Religion (1 or 2 unit) or Studies in Catholic Thought (1 unit). 
  • Year 11 academic reports: students receive an Interim Report (end of Term 1 and Term 2) and End of Preliminary Course Report. The End of Preliminary Course Report includes:
    • Course overview
    • Student approach to learning
    • Level of achievement attained in syllabus areas of achievement
    • Cumulative assessment mark and rank in each course
    • Overall grade, including grade distribution for the cohort
    • Information about student attendance (whole day and partial absence); attendance at major College events and participation in co-curricular events and activities.
    • Student behaviour level 
  • Year 12 academic reports: The College issues two comprehensive academic reports: Half Yearly Report (end of Term 1) and Final Report (end of Term 3). The half yearly and final report contain the following information:
    • Course overview
    • Student approach to learning
    • Level of achievement attained in syllabus areas of achievement
    • Cumulative assessment mark (half yearly report only) and rank in each course
    • Information about student attendance (whole day and partial absence); attendance at major College events and participation in co-curricular events and activities.
    • Student behaviour level 

Record of School Achievement (RoSA)

The RoSA is the new credential for students who leave school after Year 10 and before they receive their Higher School Certificate (HSC). To qualify for the award of the RoSA a student must:

  1. Satisfactorily complete the minimum number and pattern of courses required by the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA)
  2. Meet all the mandatory study requirements for Years 7 to 10 in each Key Learning Area
  3. Have a satisfactory record of attendance and application

The RoSA is designed to record and credential all secondary school students’ academic results up until the HSC. If a student leaves school before completing all courses in Year 12, their RoSA will record the courses they commenced and any grades attained. This measure acknowledges the fact that many students begin senior secondary study but leave school for employment or other training opportunities before receiving their HSC.
